Some questions?

So the first part of the season will focus just on getting to the 10???

Once in only focus on 4 races?

those not in top 10 race for ?????

Those not in the 10 will interfere with the finalists' efforts unintentionally or under team orders???

the top seed could be eliminated after race 1????

not sure this will be any good

that is an issue with what they are doing. in footy finals you are only playing one other team at a time. and, correct me if wrong, the top teams also have a 'second chance' game?

if Joe Bloggs has the most amazing season in history and wins every race of the season but has dnf's at the GC tough luck. that is not what a racing season is about!

best I can tell once out of the 10 all you are racing for is a contract for the next year.

also, how will it affect the teams championship? they aren't racing for a first up pit lane advantage anymore.

will the lower teams use the last 3 weekends to try some new blood? not worth anything else to them.

Recently saw this online which raises some eyebrows. Unverified as to its accuracy, however don't think it'd be wrong. Dare say V8 Sleuth will have something similar soon.

Confirms my fears of my previous post. Imagine Scotty Mac only a 1 time champion despite his 19/20 dominant seasons, same as SVG in 21/22, Skaife in 01/02.

In that time, we'd have Todd Kelly 2x Champion, Dumbrell, Slade, Reynolds and Coulthard, and Mostert a 3x Champ!
Obviously all heresay, if that were the system of the time drivers would've treated their final 3 rounds differently, but it does show how it shakes things up.

And very much not for the best. That graphic illustrates perfectly why it is a 💩 idea
If you don't like my comment, ignore it. If you don't know how to ignore it, message me and I will be only too happy to demonstrate how.

Anyone else lost interest in the faux intensity they keep putting on the Championship?
It literally means nothing as to who can win, you just need to be fast and in the top 5 or so heading to the finals.

All of this "they're hunting Waters down" is nonsense. Of course you'd rather be winning, but it's just points collecting and having a fast car. Having a dud round doesn't mean much (ala Waters - he's doing exactly what he needs).

Larkham blatantly said it. It is to make the championship go down to the last race.

No. It's not making any difference to me. At this point in the championship points lead has never been that critical. Will still be a battle to be in contention for the top 5 or so later. So it'll be a different points discussion.

I Have feeling it is a bit like Bathurst, just be up the front on lap 138, buy a ticket to the last stop. Just build points to get the top 10 no prizes for the number of wins just bragging rights. I just wonder what will happen if the #1 of the top 10 after getting there is knocked out round 1?

Feeney could become the first one to be left out in the cold from this new system. Under the previous ruleset I think we'd all agree he has one hand on the trophy.
He has enough buffer that he'd just need to come home in the top 3-5 in the remaining races and still win and given his form, he would likely do better than that. Only a couple DNF's in the Sat/Sun races would vastly impact him.

10 wins, 10 poles at winning a percentage of just under 50. Next best is 3 wins a piece for Waters and Payne, with Kostecki on 3 poles.

All finals drivers will start on 3000 points, with the drivers ranked from 1-10 after Bathurst.
- 1st getting 150 points, spread to 10th with 21pts. Ie. 1st place after Bathurst will have 3,150pts.
- The winner of the Sprint Cup (elect Feeney), and Enduro Cup will bag an extra 25pts on top of the above.
- Automatic entry to the finals for the Sprint Cup winner, and Enduro Cup winner. It would be interesting one day if the Enduro Cup winner finished, say 11th in the standings (as unlikely as that would be). Do they then include an 11th car?

I still feel the finals to be manufactured. There's nothing better than a genuine dinky-die Championship that comes down to the final race. It's just that those happen once every 5 years or so - obviously not good enough for Supercars who are in the entertainment business.

I feel anyone down the 6th in the standings are a shot. Feeney, Brown, Payne, Waters, Mostert and Kostecki.
It'll have to be a shift in mindset if say Kostecki won. Many people blew up a few years ago when Whincup beat McLaughlin with less wins/poles etc (adding to 'that' lap drama).

Ps. I did have a nice $50 on Kostecki at $37 pre-Townsville. We know the man can bustle a car around the GC and Adelaide, and I'm sure DJR know that, setup wise.

We have seen, as further up the page, only 5 seasons unaffected since '01!
So it is possible, Feeney could miss out.

While I'm not a huge fan of The Finals, does make it interesting when a single driver dominates - can they keep the form going?
The rules are the same for everyone at the end of the day.

**if I understand the rules correctly**

Broc would start the GC event on 3150 with lesser points to the rest down to 10th (currently Wood, 3021).

3 lowest points after GC get eliminated.

300 points on offer.

as at today Broc is getting close to a full round ahead of second place (220 points). he has 10 wins to his name. 2nd - 6th COMBINED have 9 wins.

3 races at the GC. IF Broc ends up with a result that we have seen GC dish up time and again, writing his car off, and zero points for the round. then the one and only driver in the series this year who truly deserves his name on the trophy is out. his year's work to get so far ahead of everybody else in the series has been for nought.

this is why the 'finals' system is a joke. 10th place is currently on 914 points against Broc's 1759. but hey, let's artificially include someone who has no place in the race for the championship in the top 10 by restarting them all with a 150 point gap. Broc has just lost 3 full race winning weekends against 10th place to 'make it interesting'.

that's some BS right there folks.

at this point in the season there's only 3 people in with a shot I reckon, Feeney, Brown and Payne (Waters is already about 400 points behind in 4th).

perhaps they should just drop the names in a barrel and bingo someone a championship because that is all it will be worth if anyone other than Broc takes out the number 1 (based on performance to date)

His years work his hardly for nought. The championship is not the only thing they race for. Feeney has results in record books. Wins on his resume. Trophies. Very importantly - results for fans & sponsors. His worth as a driver is backed up by a season of results. Plenty of sports boil down to a one match final. A worthy champion needs to finish the season well.

Bloopy

If the finals play out poorly then the Sprint Cup trophy/champions will be more lauded.

Bit like NRL and AFL season, they have minor premierships, but they only promote the Major premierships who won the grand finals the most. what will they do here who gets the #1 on next years car??? What if the prediction above occurs and Feeny get zip??? what did someone say if can happen it will,,,,,,,,,,,one day. We wait and see eh
