Looks like only four rounds are scheduled as of right now.  At least there is still a pulse here:

April 11-13
ITM Taupo Super 440

June 6-8
Perth Super 440

August 22-24
Race Winton

September 12-14
The Bend 500

Not much of a calendar sadly for what could have been :'(

I think there is supposed to be a round 5 which is part of an international event?

To be fair to those who claimed a FWD 2 litre class wouldn't survive in Australia, they were right.
And TCR gave it a massive shake, it's not like it was a half arse effort. Covid killed any momentum they had. They hang by a thread, and probably dependent on any new cars coming into the country.

Shows the power of Supercars and their drivers, even after all their poor recent performances.

power of SC... yeah can agree with that. they don't have the best package but they manage to have the ear of someone somewhere.

for the amount of money spent over a year in their world we could be having a monster Oz/NZ series of note with at least 20 rounds utilizing so many race tracks but racing is not the aim of the game in SC.

TCR really is (along with S5000 perhaps) the 'what could have beens'... timing went to hell and took them both with it

I knew the day this series started, it would fail!!! Just like every other 2L class in this country before it..  People dont want to watch ****ty sounding 2L hatch backs.

***YOU*** don't watch them... they put on good racing for RACE fans who enjoy RACING...

Bigger brother just jumped on baby brother and pulverised 'em... there was no reason we could not have had both, hell, even on track at the same time they worked a treat and was so good to watch on many occasions.

Just like most people who write crap on the Supercars page!

However, I was there at the very beginning at EC and before they moved to Stan, I use to watch most rounds. It was good racing, but the cars looked & sounded crap.

Moving to Stan was just the dumbest move ever!!

absolutely bad decisions were made... run by humans and we all do dumb at times.

but the old school BMW vs Audi esp were magic. (which of course was pre-tcr)

I don't know if they will be able to find their way back. would love them to be able to get a reasonable grid but if they can't even get half the grid of the criticized small Supercar grid I am not sure where they will go.

Perhaps having a second class so that there are good numbers would help (talking more than just the previous gen tcr cars) but I am not sure which category that might be.

I do laugh when people suggest that 10 years ago the sport (Supercars) was in such a better position.
Yet 10 years ago people were complaining saying that the 10 years before that we're the better days!

They certainly lost my eye when moving to Stan. It's really hard for a growing category to garner any attention when people would have to pay to see if they're interested.

and yet there is truth in that.

we can look back at anything and say '5 years ago was better' and also that 10, 20, 50 years ago it was better. multiple truths can exist at the same time!

we look at what SC has become and remember what it was when it was v8sc... and then remember what it was when it was atcc...

and for all the flaws of each category they also had plenty going for them that we wish had continued...

TCR has plenty of potential... or had? the show that it was putting on overseas made it worthy of a look in... timing due to what happened where everyone lost so much was a blow for them... hiding them behind a paywall (on a station that folk didn't tend to have it seems) was a bad move by them...

if they manage to get it all lined up there is still potential... people who enjoy racing can still enjoy this category (just as some can't stand it) and maybe it will grow or maybe it will just die off and the cars go back where they came from.

one thing for sure, they won't die wondering

It seems to me that GRM has a shedload of TCRs sitting unused and fields seemed to run about 10 to 12. One problem is that the cars represent manufacturers that have trouble selling cars in Australia anyway.

It must be just too expensive for drivers and sponsors to buy or lease a slightly outdated machine for relatively light coverage in FTA TVland.

The same apparently applied to S5000. Gary must be really disheartened, particularly as GRM had to run about half of the cars to even get a minimal field.

Super 2 is expanding to the extent that new cars are being built to previous regs, although FPR probably have a shed full of spares for the old cars.

TA2 cars seem to be the preferred entry to competitive motorsport, and there are quite a few series suitable for owner drivers with or without sponsor support.
