A point could be made there, yes.  However, from watching NASCAR since they went to stage racing, there is a difference between a caution/safety car and KNOWING when the caution/safety car will be used.

Anyways, we might be talking about this for no reason at all.  Pure speculation at this point.

But speculation nonetheless.   :D

I have often thought that the leader of endurance races, like Bathurst at the halfway point should get a points bonus, most helpful if followed by a DNF in the second half.  However, I don't like artificial stoppages as NASCAR appear to do.

NASCAR car is hard to fathom but SVG seems to figure that winning will sort it out.

Come to think of it, the Aussie Supercar points system is SuperWierd, but that's a topic for another thread.

SVG won at Sonoma this morning which makes it 3 wins in the last few weeks.
He could possibly end up with 5 as the Glen and Charlotte are still to come.
He currently sits 3rd in the playoff points which pisses some yanks off.

And now the most winning international driver (ie. not born in the USA) across the NASCAR series'.

Still surprised no one has just bumped him off at a restart.
My thoughts are they likely know he's an easier competitor comes the playoff ovals, so no need to make an enemy of him.

In the wake of Sonoma, I must say, SVG has everyone beat on the road courses. Comments from other drivers comparing him to Michael Jordan, basically admitting that the only way to beat him is off the restarts. Crazy.
The social world has some great memes etc. He's certainly reinvigorated that aspect of NASCAR, and picked up a lot of fans and naysayers along the way.
It's great to watch.

Connor Zilisch is pretty impressive too. The dude can wheel around Ovals AND turn right.
He's won three Xfinity races in a row, and could've been four had he held of Shane in Chicago.

Dare say SVG will be compared to him a fair bit (as circuit racers), but he'll need to pick up his game on the ovals to remain in Connor's league.

The final four are set for Phoenix. Briscoe, Hamlin, Byron and Larson. A pair of Toyota's and Chev's.
First time in 3 years it won't be a Penske winner - who suited the tri-oval.

...and Logano wins after a late safety car, stealing it from Hamlin. Feel for him there. Pure chance.
