It's a brave new world, haha. Apparently it's happening in Toronto and elsewhere too.

I haven't seen the instagram, whatever that is, but Police in Brisbane have been issuing radar speeding fines to cyclists for years, and rightly so, along with a lot of blitzes on failing to stop at stop signs.

On the road I could understand more easily. This footage is of them monitoring a shared walking/cycling path with a 20km/h speed limit. The cyclist caught doesn't appear to be going fast, maybe just over. It just seems miserably nitpicky.

**** some bike riders, they ****ing sook and whinge about their rights in law to be on the road, then they sook and whinge when they get caught breaking the law.

no issue with it myself. some bike riders are lunatics (as are drivers).

on the roads the riders will come off worse in an incident... but then they do the same thing on shared paths where the walkers/runners will come off worse.

QuoteTwo teenagers on an e-bike have died in a collision with a Harley Davidson motorcycle in Brisbane's south.

Police believe the motorcycle collided with the e-bike when it overtook a vehicle on Middle Road in Greenbank about 9pm last night.

The boy and girl on the e-bike, both in their teens, died at the scene and the motorcyclist was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigating officers don't think the e-bike had lights on at the time of the crash.

Frankly, I find that bike riders, with or without power, flaunt road rules and in particular, I am concerned about riders in dark clothes and no light riding at night.

I might add that two up on an e-bike is probably not legal and is certainly not sensible,  >:(

Today, in daylight admittedly, I was cut off by a bike rider changing lanes without signaling. That rider had a child seat mounted behind and a young child put at great risk.

Thankfully, I usually anticipate that a bike rider will do something stupid and back well off accordingly.

Most times, I am pleasantly surprised that the rider is more sensible than I allowed for.

I was watching an episode of Highway Cops, the cops were sitting at a pedestrian crossing controlled by lights, this wanker came up the wrong side of the road, through the pedestrian crossing just avoiding someone, then when the coppers pulled him up he went full defensive

As a frequent pedestrian living in the CBD of a major city, it took me some time to adapt to looking out in every direction for scooters all the time, but I'm ok with it now. Occasionally there's a bike lane between parked cars and the footpath. One such lane near my place points in the opposite direction to the traffic flow on a one-way street. I see so many cyclists and scooters going in the wrong direction in bike lanes compared to what's intended. So you have to get used to looking both ways, but one day you may be rewarded with seeing a hilarious collision. ;D

In somewhere like Japan they're way more used to Barnes Dance pedestrian signals at intersections, with crowds of cyclists and scooters and pedestrians all going every which way at once. I think we're getting the hang of it here, but then crowds are much smaller. Sure beats having to wait for a separate green light just for the bikes.

I can remember when I was in the Navy overseas crossing streets as a pedestrian.  Talk about looking both ways first....  maybe about six ways first.  An easy formula for getting in real trouble real fast with RHD cars.

Haha issue speeding fines to cyclists?
I am a cyclist myself and it is generally not easy to break the speed limit on roads. I'm sure most if not all of those are simply a warning to slow down.
As for not stopping at stop signs, they'd have far more success with motor vehicles.
