As seems to be the common opening title of all threads now, surprised this hasn't been discussed.

Looks like they're going for a Melbourne style parklands precinct which can hit a multitude of events throughout the year.

Lets say, I don't hate it. The biggest loss is the Senna Chicane. Obviously makes for fantastic TV and has that F1 heritage. T8 is great and all, but I'm not opposed to losing it - although we lose the 'driver' limits that it produced, ala JC and J-Dub 2016.
I like that they kept the shape of the previous back section now into the front section. The new T1 and T12 look like the only overtaking opportunities?

I think the loss of Turn 8 is a shame.  It's one of the few turns that throws up drama during a race.  The replacement section will be more of a slow procession except for a possible dive into the left hander.

Me confused.... So the red line is the new Supercars layout? The article has the full new layout for SC, but with sharpened corners compared to the MotoGP layout.

It is a shame politicians will disrupt city streets rather than use an existing world class track nearby.

They are upsetting the tree huggers, the residents, the disrupted businesses and motorsport fans who see money wasted on a short-term venture instead of supporting a year-round facility that aids driver training and lower-level racers.

Oh, we shouldn't forget the disruption to the poor Adelaide residents needing to sleep on the street and in parks. :'(

Red is the old F1 layout. Also, the maps in the article have changed compared to the one skaifeman posted - maybe none are that final yet.

Either way, looks like the Senna Chicane is still there, just reshaped.

Yes, apologies, I grabbed the overlay from Reddit figuring we knew where the current Supercars track was in regard to the original F1. Didn't realise the proposed circuit base was different - have just updated (however still overlayed on the MGP circuit).

The Senna Chicane looks far more open, hoping they keep the kerbing akin to what's currently there.
Assuming they won't hardstand the inside of the corner as no one will run two wide seeing as it isn't the first corner.

It is a pity they can't use the staircase for the v8's. but I still think it'll be ok, Longer track now, that's a long walk from one end to the other!

We did lose the circuit only a few years ago, so at least we got to enjoy it for a couple more years.

It still lives on in sim racing also

Very well put into context Lanky. Absolutely nuts to think this event wasn't even on the calendar a few years ago.
