Now we know that the DJR spokesman was wrong in saying that DJR only did the body.

What we also know is that one of the Tickford cars was illegal and it only came out because of the crash investigation.

I wonder if the Monster Car that was awarded the win was also not legal. It is unlikely that Tickford will ever tell us.

How a scrutineer could check that part is another interesting question.

(There was a nostalgic scrutineering practice whereby a hole was drilled in the main rollbar hoop so that thickness could be measured.)

It's been done in speedway too more than once.  :)

No, he's not wrong. The frames are all the same, done in collaboration with Supercars, 888 and DJR. DJR would not have had free rein to build it as they saw fit.

I wonder if the steel extensions are used to support the heavier Ford engine?

Where was that reported?

Stevo is implying that the variance in steel thickness makes it a non-compliant car.

thankful it happened where it did and he could get it to the fireys quickly. if that had happened out on track at a more remote location it would have been one full on bbq.

Here is a significant possible reason for the Gen 3 problems.

QuoteSkaife has been the lead of the Gen3 project and hence is a key stakeholder.

(Skaife was, it is alleged, a former owner of the factory Holden team and not memorably successful. It was alleged by the late Tom Walkinshaw that he ran up large unpaid bills for the supply of cars and equipment.)

From memory, Tom also charged exorbitant rates for said cars/parts.

This season will likely end up being a 'parity refinement.' My bet is that the Stang's will get a little adjustment, be better than the Camaro's, then vice-versa.

https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/video-brad-jones-reveals-his-gen3-fire-theory/

Brad Jones admits he is not an expert, but his theory is interesting, and feasible and will surely be considered by the expert group.

Our very rudimentary sports sedans, of 50 plus years ago, kept things like oil catch cans away from the heat of engines and exhausts. (Well, mine did, and I was bright enough to copy others).

Based on Brad's video, I agree that the engine compartments are too congested and that may the reason for the front clip widening for the Ford engine. I can see a front clip change coming after Tickfords crash and burn chassis testing.

In any case, Brad and BJR have done an excellent job of communicating with online readers. So, if anyone from BJR is reading this Forum, please pass thanks to the boss man.

PS> there was talk of a last race boycott by all Ford teams at Albert Park.

Brad also has lots of little videos he posts to facebook. Very informative and well produced, even if he is racing Camaros.  😁😁
If you don't like my comment, ignore it. If you don't know how to ignore it, message me and I will be only too happy to demonstrate how.

Brad is one of my favourites  in the sport and is very knowledgeable. He should be in Skaifeys role.

Interested to know whether they were boycotting for safety or parity, I'd support the safety boycott but not the parity. Why not parity? You need track time to get a proper read on parity due to the stupid testing system they have in place, clearly it does not work and should have been rectified prior to any new car designs

Dane stated that Gen 3 exists for Camaro. Whincup claims 888 did 90% of the design work. Supercars purchased the Camaro IP from Chev.

So much focus on making Camaro a success while simultaneously dropping the ball with Mustang. Hell yes, they will want to be involved. Just imagine the liability 888 would face if someone gets hurt from a fire.

It's pretty cool to have flames back again, but is it just me or is it more noticeable on the Fords?
