The racing already has an artificial element that takes away passing on the track.

not at all, they are the builders of the Gen III cars - how can you possibly say that?

BTCC changed their racing formula for this year and got rid of success ballast.

"Gone is the old success ballast system of added weight, replaced by a sliding scale of what's known as Hybrid Energy Modulation (HEM). For qualifying from the second meeting, the top 10 in the championship will have fewer seconds of boost to play with, from zero per lap for the points leader to 13.5 seconds for the driver in 10th and 15 seconds for all those thereafter."

On a separate note, I still say get rid of the chicanes at the Gold Coast.

Although gone in BTCC, success ballast IS an option, Ospif1 & murph.  It could always be tabled down the road.

T8 have built the Camaro test car & DJR have built the Mustang test car. All teams are free to build their own cars (Team18 have recently announced they will be doing this), but teams will have to purchase their engines from the homoligated builder (KRE in the case of GM & Herrod in the case of Ford). Both T8 and DJR have had equal responsibility in regards to the "building" of the cars, so any favouritism to T8 will also be favouritism to DJR.
